About 10 minutes east to UC Berkeley's North Gate, through the residential streets between Shattuck and Euclid. It is the walk most residents do several times a day.

No car.
From 1752 Shattuck you can walk to UC Berkeley in about 10 minutes, be on a BART platform in 7, and reach either Bay Area airport without owning a car. Here is what that looks like day to day.

Downtown Berkeley BART
Seven minutes south on Shattuck, the same street you live on. Trains run every 10 to 15 minutes through the day and reach Embarcadero in San Francisco in about 25 minutes.
AC Transit on Shattuck
Buses stop right outside the building. Local lines connect down to Downtown Berkeley and into Oakland, and the transbay F line runs into Downtown San Francisco over the Bay Bridge.
Bear Transit
Free for Cal students with a Cal 1 Card. The Perimeter Line circles campus, which is worth knowing on days with classes on opposite corners.
Biking
Berkeley is flat and bike-friendly in this direction, and campus racks are everywhere. Bring a U-lock; cable locks do not last long here.
Rideshare
Uber and Lyft are quick to arrive on Shattuck. Set the pickup at the loading zone in front of the building rather than the street itself.
Bigger trips.
Times are approximate and BART schedules shift. Check the operator app before a trip that matters.
To SFO
BART from Downtown Berkeley toward Millbrae and SFO, transferring at MacArthur. Budget about 55 minutes from the front door to the terminal.
To Oakland (OAK)
BART to Coliseum, then the BART-to-OAK connector straight into the terminal. About 30 minutes door to gate, and usually the cheaper flight.
Weekends in San Francisco
Plan 45 minutes each way including the walk to BART. Check the last train back before you go out; service thins out well before the system closes.
Keeping a car
Most residents do not. Street parking near Shattuck is permit-restricted and hard to find. If you are bringing one, ask the office about nearby paid garages before you arrive.
Do this in week one.
Add a Clipper card to your phone wallet. One tap covers BART, AC Transit, Muni in San Francisco, and the ferries. The only Bay Area system it does not cover is Bear Transit, which is free for Cal students with a Cal 1 Card anyway.
